No. Class II surge protectors have no grounding protection, while Class I luminaires require grounding protection. Using Class II surge protectors for Class I luminaires will not provide protection against earth faults.
Can Class I surge protectors be used in Class II luminaires?
Yes. Class I surge protectors are equipped with indicator lights and thermal trip devices, and their design meets the requirements for both Class I and Class II luminaires, so they can be used in Class II luminaires.
