FAQ
How to wire a 3-wire series Class II surge protector?
Connect the input live wire to the Li terminal of the surge protector, the Lo terminal of the surge protector to the input live wire (L) of the LED driver, and connect the neutral wires (N) of the input power supply, surge protector and LED driver in parallel.
Can a 3-wire series Class II surge protector provide protection?
Yes, it can effectively suppress surge voltage and protect the LED driver and the internal circuits of the luminaire.
What is the difference between a 3-wire series Class II surge protector and a 4-wire series Class II surge protector?
The working principle is the same — both are protected by the live wire (L) terminal of the surge protector. The only difference is that the 4-wire type has one extra wire.
What are the advantages of a 20kV 3-wire series Class II surge protector over a 20kV series Class II surge protector?
It has a higher voltage withstand level. The 20kV model provides stronger lightning and surge resistance, making it suitable for harsher environments.
Does the 20kV 3-wire series Class II surge protector have certifications?
Yes, it is certified with CE and CB in accordance with IEC 61643-11, has an IP67 protection rating, and complies with relevant safety standards.
Is the SPD installed too far from the luminaire?
Long wires cause high residual voltage. Lights still get damaged even with SPD.Best solution: built-in SPD + upstream Type 2 SPD.
